FAQ: Files & Attachments

How many documents can I attach at a time?

Up to 20 files per message. There's also a combined size limit, roughly 20 MB of PDFs or Office files per message.

Is there a maximum file size?

There's no fixed per-file limit in the app. The limit applies to everything in the message combined, plus the conversation so far. If you hit it, attach fewer files or start a new chat.

What file types can I upload?

PDF, Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), PowerPoint (.pptx), Rich Text (.rtf), .txt, .csv, .html, Outlook emails (.msg, .eml), images (.png, .jpg, .jpeg, .webp, .heic, .heif), audio (.mp3, .wav) and video (.mp4, .mpeg).

Can I upload a zip file?

No. Extract it and attach the files individually.

Can I attach an email that has attachments?

Yes. Drag the email from Outlook (.msg) or attach a .eml file. The Assistant reads the email and the attachments inside it.

Can it read scanned PDFs or photos of documents?

Yes, though clear, straight, well-lit scans give the best results. Handwriting may be less reliable.

Can it read password-protected PDFs?

Remove the password before attaching (open the PDF → Print → Save as PDF).

Do I need to re-attach files for follow-up questions?

No. Files attached earlier stay part of that conversation. In a New Chat, you'll need to attach them again.

What's the difference between attaching a file and uploading it to the Knowledge Base?

An attachment is only used in that conversation, by you. A Knowledge Base document is uploaded by an admin and available to everyone in your organisation, in every conversation.
